Recently, weight-loss gurus as well as celebrity doctors have been touting the benefits of raspberry ketone pills. This is supposed to be a miracle cure for weight loss. This supplement has become so popular in just a matter of a few years that even health food stores have been stocking up on them. But is this pill really effective for weight loss?
Raspberry ketone in essence is the aromatic element found in raspberries. When ingested in huge doses, this compound is said to stimulate production of adiponectin in the body. Adiponectin is a protein responsible for regulating the metabolism and breaking down fat stores from the body. To be able to ingest the recommended dosage of 100 mg of ketone, a person would have to eat around 90 pounds of raspberries per day. For this reason, the compound is synthetically produced in the form of pills.
The effects of raspberry ketone
As per Dr. Oz, which is one of the U.S. favorite medical TV star, raspberry ketone could be considered as a miracle product for weight loss. On his TV show in 2012, the physician praised the merits of raspberry ketones when consumed alongside a good diet and some workouts. Raspberry ketone is said to bring about dramatic weight loss in a matter of some days.
No proof has yet been established as to the positive effect of raspberry ketone on weight loss. Some studies have tested the compound on mice but the results have not been conducive to any definitive conclusion.
