Research Disputes Major Claims Behind “Blood Type Diet”

3

When it comes to losing weight and getting in better shape, the public is constantly berated by new types of diets they’re told are the best. One such diet that has gained popularity is known as the “Blood Type Diet.” Participants were informed that the decisions they make regarding food and exercise should be based on their specific blood type. However, research is now contradicting its claims.

In fact, the research claims that no major studies were ever done to support the claims being made about people’s blood type and how it should affect their health regime.

Over 1,400 people took part in this study. Most of them were considered to be young adults in good health.

They first head major health markets measured and then were assigned their diet and exercise regimen based on the diet’s recommendations. The researchers then made predictions of what should happen, if the diet was valid.

Unfortunately for proponents of the diet, the results showed absolutely no correlation to what they should have achieved had their blood types made a difference.

In fact, scientists came up with their own recommendation. They said that a person’s health and well being would have more to do with their ability to take up a reasonable vegetarian diet or one that is low in carbs.

That being said, researchers did admit that the different diets people were assigned showed completely different benefits. But again, none of them had anything to do with the blood type the participant had.
