Going beyond your medicine’s recommended dosage is a bad idea

1

If you’ve been sick, or if you’re taking medication for any condition you may have, it’s best to stick to the dosage that your doctor has prescribed for you. These prescriptions are there for a reason, and it’s so you’ll get better. Take for example having a really bad headache, you’re only supposed to take a tablet of paracetamolor aspirin every four hours or so until your headache eventually goes away. It’s not advisable to be taking two or even three tablets just for a headache. As a matter of fact, your recommended dosage is there precisely to tell you that you only need that much for every interval for you to get better. Taking in more than the recommended dosage won’t make you feel better any faster, it’s only going to ramp up your tolerance for a particular drug. Increased tolerance means that regular dosage for medication would not longer work for you because your body is used to a particular dosage such that it wouldn’t be as effective to you anymore. Stick to what your doctor orders you to take, and don’t take more than what you’re supposed to ingest. If you feel that the medicine your taking isn’t very effective, consult your doctor first before you take in an increased dosage or switch medicines. Your doctor is licensed particularly for that purpose, so don’t try to take matters into your own hands. To be practical, an increased tolerance for medicine means you need to shell out more money to cure something.
