12

The hot summer months can tempt one to relax instead of keeping at your workout. Yes, both the air conditioning and the couch can seem a better option. Yet it is best that you go outside and get moving so as to fight the lethargy that comes with the summer.

Here are 3 ways to fight the ‘summer slump’:

greatdrugspharmacy21: Watch Your Step During the Summer Months

It’s important to stay cool and hydrated during the summer months. The summer months can cause dehydration than others. Know that it only takes about 15 minutes for a heat stroke to take place. If humidity is high, then the sweat won’t evaporate quickly as it prevents the body from releasing heat. Drink more water. Avoid drinks that contain sugar and alcohol. Exercise only when the heat outside is below 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Wear loose and light colored clothing whenever you go out. Apply sunscreen as often as possible.

2: Eat Meals That Are Lighter

Fruits and vegetables are better during the summer months because they are lighter. Water-based fruits such as pineapple, cantaloupe and watermelon are excellent options. If you are traveling, then use a cooler. Some of the items that could help you include snap peas, bottled water, ice, apples or other fruits, Greek yogurt and whole-grain breads too.

3: Go for a Water Workout

Working out in a pool will improve cardiovascular healthy but flexibility too. Apart from this, every body part of yours will become stronger and shape up nicely. Also, water workouts are less stressful on the joints since the water reduces your weight. Yet since water increases UVA rays by 25 percent, make sure you apply sunscreen and drink as much water as possible. Other outdoor activities are also recommended.
