Sleep is something that people cannot live without facing the consequences of tiredness, irritability, lack of concentration and the higher chances of getting ill. Read below for tips on getting better sleep.

Set a bed time – If you set the alarm to wake up, you can set the alarm to head to bed. Do this by picking an hour for shutting down and sticking to it.

Take a Bath – A warm bath can relax and prepare the body for sleep.

Blackout – The smallest amount of light can cause a person to receive less sleep. It is, therefore, important to switch off all TV, computer, room and hallway lights before you get into bed.

Drown out noise – Noise can disrupt sleep. To drown out noise invest in a fan or noise reducing headphones that will block outside noise.

Be cool – Lower your thermostat and use a blanket. The colder the room, the more restful your sleep will be.

Eat light – Indigestion can leave you uncomfortable and cause you to visit the bathroom more often. Therefore, have a light meal before bed and avoid liquids at least 1 hour before bed.

No smoking or drinking – Alcohol and nicotine are stimulants, that will keep you wide awake and interrupt a peaceful night’s sleep.

Pillows – Buy good quality pillows that are supportive, comfortable, and suit your sleeping position.
