Start the day off right – Breakfast is a great way for the family to bond and start the day off on a good note. It is advisable to start your kids off with a breakfast that includes protein. Think whole eggs, toast, fruit, and yogurt, which is a winning combination, packed with nutrients.

Avoid the added sugar – According to the American Heart foundation, children from the ages of 2-18 should be consuming no more than 6 teaspoons of sugar a day. In most cases, the added sugar for children comes in the form of sugary drinks and fruit juices.

Swap juice for whole fruit – Fruit is a rich source of fiber and nutrients when eaten as a whole. It also means that your kids will consume less compared to if they are drinking fruit juice. Make your kids a healthy fruit salad, consisting of a variety of fruits to make them feel more satisfied.

Pack a healthy snack – Smart snacks should include fruit, greek yogurt, vegetables with dip and a bottle of water. Nut butter and nut packs are also a good source of healthy fats and will help to keep your kids fuller for longer.
