Antisense oligonucleotides have shown early evidence of positive clinical activity in lymphoma and lung cancer patients.

Antisense oligonucleotides have played a large role in the progression of cancer treatment. STAT3 is a specialized type of transcription factor that plays an oncogenic role in treating cancer signs. The use of chemical inhibitors have proven to be extremely difficult for targeting purposes and slowed down the entire process tenfold. Now, by using the both fluorescent label and antisense oligonucleotide, there is a feasible alternative that can target STAT3 with much more ease.

High Potency

Next-generation antisense oligonucleotides have become the alternative to small-molecule inhibitors because of their high potency and ease of insertion. For instance, the RNA and DNA polymers within these oligonucleotides allow for systematic administration without requiring lipid vehicles. Multiple clinical tests are being performed on cancer patients that have failed one or more previous treatments. The results were phenomenal, showing significant activity in a variety of preclinical cancer models.

Next Generation Models

These antisense oligonucleotides are paving the way for additional testing and are a positive step in the fight for cancer. Oligonucleotide research has increased by a substantial percentage due to the effectiveness of these inhibitors.

These DNA synthesis sequencing technologies have expanded research potential and are allowing for a better understanding of cancer genetics and how to prevent them from mutating and spreading. Antisense technology has become a platform with a huge amount of potential to translate these advances into positive working activity. Initial clinical evaluations have therapeutically aided the patients undergoing antisense therapy and showed antitumor activity in a range of cancer models.
